22nd August
London to Cannes
In Cannes, South of France with my friends Rick and Mireille. I arrived in to London at 0530 on Monday morning, grey and drizzly English day! Wasn’t cold though and Brett met me at the airport. We caught as cab to Denham, I have attached a photo of NMG at the fuel browser, and you can see the weather!! Anyway after putting a flight plan in (Courtesy of Ian Valentine) we took off in the worsening weather, cloud was low but we got through OK on our climb to 10,000 ft. Did not see a thing until after Paris!! What a shame, anyway the rest of the flight was good and the weather in Cannes was great. The trip was good fun, Brett and I got on very well and the arrival went as planned. Rick picked us up and we ate very well that night at a typical French restaurant in the historic village of Cabris. We had an oil change done at a workshop at the airport, and found a broken exhaust pipe (which I had suspected) Pascal the mechanic jumped on his motor biker and took it up to Nice for welding so by the time we returned after a Murielle (Pictured) lunch it was ready to go. I took Rick for a joy flight (Photos later) and then we filled the ferry tank and plane with 750 litres. NMG is a very heavy little girl. Tomorrow we head off for the first really big flight, 10 hours to Luxor in Egypt. We overnight there and head off the next morning for Muscat, Oman about which I have heard great things and we have a day off!
